Dear Dr. Yadav,
I take great pleasure in thanking you for your kind invitation to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Australasian Association of Ayurveda Inc. (AAA) during the 1st International and AAA Conference and Exhibition to be held in Melbourne, Australia, on the 6th and 7th of October 2018.
I cannot imagine any better combination of the two unique celebrations on one occasion. Both the events will open new chapters in the future direction and development of Ayurveda in Australia.
Although The Australasian Association of Ayurveda Inc. was first officially registered on the 9th February 1988 it was the outcome of 6 previous years in making.
It all started in 1982 when Professor Acharya Manfred Junius, Dr. Krishna Kumar and Mrs Athena Yiossis decided to bring (Late) Vaidya Bhagwan Dash, one of the great scholars and Authors of Ayurvedic books, to Australia for a series of lecture-seminar thus the Australian School of Ayurveda was created to educate and propagate Ayurveda in Australia. That resulted in a publication of “A Handbook of Ayurveda” co-authored by Dash and Junius. This book was immediately translated in various European languages as it was rare to find a book on Ayurveda written in English or any European language which was easily accessible to common people.
Subsequently in 1988 upon return of the first batch of students to Australia after having completed their training in Pune, India, under the able guidance of Prof. Dr. P.H. Kulkarni it was considered that an organisation needed to be established to protect the profession and its integrity and that was the beginning of the Australasian Association of Ayurveda Inc.
During these 30 years many milestones have been achieved to establish Ayurveda as a system of healthcare within the Australian context. Those interested to know further may visit our website: www.ayurved.org.au
I commend Dr. Santosh Kumar Yadav and his dedicated team who have worked hard behind the scene to bring these two events together. They have and still at work to put all the logistics together to bring these events for the benefit of the members of the AAA and overall for the benefit of the general public who are interested in Ayurveda and the modalities of AYUSH.
AYUSH is a unique concept conceived by the Indian Government that encompasses all natural healing arts and sciences of great cultures.
I highly recommend all members of the AAA to come together to support such an event that will have positive consequences for years to come.
I am much looking forward to attending the sessions, and learning from the speakers and the policy makers. I wish all the very best for the success of the conference and the participants.
Dr. Krishna Kumar Patron,
